Survived the move...

This last weekend and the beginning of the week were hell. My arms, legs, back-bone and other body muscles are aching. Feels like I was run over by a bus. But the shifting from our previous apartment to the temporary one was nothing short of an achievement. We managed to move all our stuff in less than six hours. Like I mentioned before, our plans of moving on the weekend had to be cancelled because the other tenant was not ready to move before weekend. So we had to wait until Monday and that too until late afternoon.

We had already done most of the cleaning of the previous apartment during the weekend so that we can save time on Monday.

Boxes everywhere

You never realize that you have so much stuff until you move to other place.. :O

But Monday morning was a waste because we got the keys only at 13:00h and we had less than a day to finish moving our stuff. And being Monday we had no hopes of getting any help from our friends as they all had their work. But some of our friends showed up like guardian angels in the afternoon and we literally pulled off the enormous task of moving in less than six hours. Me and Ana are really grateful to Rogerio, Jefferson, Ricardo and Vilany who showed the true spirit of our friendship and came to our help finding time from their busy schedules.

Tuesday morning was the real test, it was the time for handing over the keys to our previous apartment to the new tenants and also do the inspection together with the people from the housing company. We had our fingers crossed and were very nervous because we had changed the wallpapers ourselves to save the cost. And now was the time to actually know whether we actually saved those 7-8k Kronors or not. When the people from the housing company arrived we became even more nervous because the person doing the inspection was a lady with whom Ana (my wife) had some argument before. The lady had brought with her a spot-light to do a very thorough inspection. My initial thought was, "Oh shit. All our efforts are gone to waste".

But luck was on our side. Even after looking at every minute details, the lady did not complain. However, she realized that the wallpapers in one of the rooms were changed. Because we had put white wallpaper there and the previous color was blue as per the details noted in their log book from the previous inspection when took that apartment. But instead of complaining, she said that we did a great job and the apartment was very clean and tidy.
Ufffaaa... We felt a sense of accomplishment and pride that all our effort paid off and we also saved some money.

Now that the first part of the story has concluded and although temporary, we now start a new chapter of spending the next 8-9 months in a smaller apartment. This was just version 0.1 of the moving, in a few months time we will move again.

In other news, the production of the house has been started at the Myresjöhus factory and we have received a preliminary date for when the house shall arrive on the site. If things go as planned, the house should arrive by end of June or if we are lucky, even a bit earlier. The plot has already been prepared and we just wait for the house to arrive.

We have also booked meeting with our bank to open the house loan account as this is the right time to do it. Now we just have to keep our patience and wait until further information from Myresjöhus.
